Wojciech Fangor
1922 - 2015 A Polish painter, graphic artist, sculptor, a co-founder of the Polish School of Posters. Decorated with the Commander?s Cross with Star of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2011) and the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis (2008). A fellow at the Institute for Contemporary Art in Washington D.C. (1962) and Ford Foundation in West Berlin (1964-65). A winner of Alfred Jurzykowski Foundation Award (1978) and Jan Cybis Award (2015). In 1970, he had an individual exhibition in the New York Solomon Guggenheim Museum as the first and only Polish artist to date. He became well-known and recognisable all over the world, as one of the most original op-art artists.
