Barbara Pniewska
1928–1994 Artist, author of metal compositions, daughter of architect Bohdan Pniewski.A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, she also studied at the Academy in Krakow. She created paintings using her own techniques. The most characteristic features of artist’s work are the synthesis of avant- garde painting construction and traditional materials outside the painter’s workshop – wood, metal, and nails.
Works in collections i.a.: Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, National Trust Collections in London, the Sylwestrowicz Collection in Bernardsville, New Jersey, USA, the Oppenheim Collection of Modern Polish Art in Los Angeles, USA, and The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut, USA.
