Maria Papa - Rostkowska
1923–2008 Sculptor, painter, designer, creator of sculptures in urban spaces. Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in War- saw (1955). Lecturer at the PWSSP in Sopot and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. She lived and worked in Paris from 1957 onwards. In 1966, she founded her studio in Pietrasanta, near the Carrara quarries in Italy. Since 1959, she has been involved in sculpture, mainly creating in marble. Awarded the Virtuti Militari Medal. Winner of the William and Noma Copley Foundation Award (1966).
