Henryk Stażewski
1894 - 1988 A Polish painter, author of reliefs, graphics, collages and spatial forms. A member of such formations as Blok (i.a. Władysław Strzemiński, Teresa Żarnowerówna, Mieczysław Szczuka), Praesens (Bohdan Lachert, Symon Syrkus), a.r (Jan Brzękowski, Jan Przyboś). A member of groups such as Cercle et Caree and Abstraction-Creation. Together with Edward Krasiński and Tadeusz Kantor, he established the Foksal Gallery. He is widely considered as the patron of Polish avant-garde, he created purely abstract compositions based on Constructivism.
