Janina Kraupe - Świderska
1921–2016 Painter, draughtswoman, graphic designer, author of polychromes, poet. She co-founded the post-war II Kraków Group. A graduate of the Faculty of Painting and the Faculty of Graphic Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (1947, 1948). A long-time lecturer at her alma mater, where in 1980 she was awarded the title of associate professor, and a full professor in 1987. Member of the “Oneiron” group in Katowice. A strong influence of Far Eastern cultures and Zen philosophical principles are noticeable in her art.
Works in collections i.a.: National Museums in Krakow, Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław, Szczecin and Kielce, Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, Muzeum Salomon R.Guggenheim Museum in New York, Arts Council in London, Uffizi Museum in Florence, Albertina Museum in Vienna.
