HOOD
May 11 - June 17, 2023

The first documented hoods were found in medieval Europe. This unassuming piece of clothing evokes a wide range of associations. A monk, a mage, a knight, or a member of a modern subculture? A hood as camouflage hiding one's identity, a hood signifying belonging, a hood protecting against wind, rain, or a blow.

The space of the SOON_ project has been treated like a fragment of a backyard. Here, we can become part of a mysterious community, or observe from a safe distance.

Hood is a manifesto of passing, a story of loss, of unidentified pain and fear lurking beneath the skin, of private and generational anxieties hidden deep in the bones. A lament about the lack of belonging and social maladaptation.

Łukasz Horbów - born in 1995, is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His artistic practice revolves around sound, spatial activities, and poetry. His understanding of the world focuses on the vision of an alienated person who gradually becomes aware of the drama of their situation. He identifies with this figure. Self-reflection driven by fear often forces behaviors aimed at ensuring survival. In his actions, he strives to tame both personal and collective anxiety.
