The centre of the installation is a geometrical and simple composition made of white shirts – a symbol of orderliness, lifestyle, high culture, and organisation. At the same time, it is a meeting point of countless threads, which are a symbolic substance of this order. The threads disperse in or coincide from all directions in a seemingly chaotic way, which, however, ultimately strives for a certain organisation.

Any attempts to impose standards and rules are supposed to set our lives in the complex world. The chaos theory, which refers also to social phenomena, tells us that any chaos is simultaneously order. Everything depends on the scale in which a phenomenon is observed. The same applies to the artist’s work, where an apparently chaotic structure reveals the order that is hidden there at a different level. The installation results from Małgorzata Lisiecka’s explorations in the area of using fabrics and clothes as formal means through which she tries to tell about their meanings and environmental impact. 

Małgorzata Lisiecka – born in 1989, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the University of Warsaw. In her work, she seeks a space between sculpture and other artistic disciplines, such as film, photography, and fashion. A participant of numerous exhibitions and projects home and abroad, e.g. The Best Diplomas of Academies of Fine Art or Quadrennial in Prague. A holder of a scholarship of the President of Częstochowa. The winner of the “Rozdroża Wolności” International Spatial Form Competition and a competition for a lighting installation for the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń.
