Maciej Gąbka
Get out of the path
June 21 - July 17, 2022

In my work, I explore systems of sorting and organizing the immediate environment. I test the capacity of the meanings of norms and the factors that provoke people into specific ways of acting, looking, speaking, or thinking. In the series "Get out of the path," I refer to the normativity of things through abstract forms, to the schemes according to which they were designed. In each of the realizations, I isolate repeated elements and conventions present in visual culture, which translate into a familiar form of the object. In this context, the title of the project was defined. Through it, I emphasize the replacement of the unique gesture of the artist with a composition developed and cut by a machine, whose path of the blade (from the English "path") was designated by me in the graphic design.
