Kamil Kocurek
Topography of war
5th September – 25th September 2015

The horizontal panel of the SOON_ project brings a screen of a digital multimedia video transmitter into mind thus enabling the artist to create an improvised computer game, a command centre. Kamil Kocurek depicts the topic of war that is present in the media and various forms of entertainment. As it is received at the level of media information or a “fun”, the image of the real conflict is at risk of being manipulated and made unreal. The boundaries between what is real and what is virtual, fictional and manipulated, become more and more blurred. The process of making a war unreal creates unlimited possibilities of creation and provokes the need for a continuous dialogue with the surrounding reality. The presented vision of a war game is embedded in a fluid and open space and the demonstrated modularity brings countless numbers of arrangements and relations. Its unspecified and dynamic territory can act as a real or fictional battlefield. It exists like a multimedia interface, a screen intermediating in establishing a relationship with the viewer.
