A Seance in a Daydream
13 September – 26 October 2025

The installation A Seance in a Daydream, realised as part of the SOON_ project, focuses on observing the phenomenon of deep contemplation. Throughout the day, many people inhabit the building, each carrying their own thoughts, worries, and dreams, quietly resonating within their minds. During work, time becomes relative. Gazing into the distance, we sink into thought as reality seems to blur.

When we observe the world in a state of reverie, mundane materials acquire symbolic meaning, becoming carriers of memories and experiences. The installation addresses this condition through the arrangement of a flattened space, using and imitating materials familiar from everyday life.

Wooden panels, reminiscent of interior elements from homes we know, are removed from their original context and relocated into an office environment, where they become silent witnesses to daily routines. Across the entire surface of the installation appears a shadow that remains unchanged regardless of the time of day, suggesting a suspension of time and the presence of elusive elements invisible within the building’s actual space.

Ordinary materials are extracted from everyday use and rearranged anew. In this configuration, they lose their original function and assume symbolic significance. The installation space becomes a shadow of reality—an enactment in which familiar forms appear as fragments of memory.

Amelia Woroszył (born 2001 in Warsaw) works with painting and object-making in her artistic practice. Her works explore the relationships between sleep, memory, and the mutability of perception, often blurring the boundaries between contexts and places. Drawing inspiration from everyday objects and materials, she transforms them through repetition and by imbuing them with a layer of personal symbolism. She is a co-founder of Lure.9701, a nomadic exhibition collective focused on connecting young artists from across Europe. She has participated in exhibitions in, among other places, Warsaw, Stockholm, and London. She completed her BA at the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, in the Poetics Studio led by Wojciech Bąkowski, and is currently continuing her MA studies at the Department of Fine Art at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.
