Ada Zielińska

FONDUE
December 12, 2018 - January 6, 2019

[…] the supreme creation of an era, conceived with passion by unknown artists, and consumed in image if not in usage by a whole population which appropriates them as a purely magical object:  [...] one can easily see in an object at once a perfection and an absence of origin, a closure and a brilliance, a transformation of life into matter.

Roland Barthes, New Citroen

Since the beginning of my fascination with cars, I have used photography to capture the impeccable bodies of vehicles. At a certain stage of development of these interests a need emerged to decompose this object, which I regard as perfect. The Automotive Stills series was created in this period, for the purpose of which I staged various situations and car accidents. Later, I expanded my artistic search with the motif of fire and combustion, trying to capture the moment of beauty during total disintegration. Objects that undergo destruction in the photograph serve a certain self-therapy, being an attempt at taming what inevitably heads to the end.

The Fondue project is one of my first attempts at going beyond classical photography. The installation is taken out of the outside world, pinpointed by the eye of the photographer and prepared as a frame for the viewer; as an object, its style matches that of my photographs and is close to my activities.

Ada Zielińska – born in 1989; a visual artist who focuses on the area of photography and installation. Her works are a sort of a documentation of the surrounding reality, a clash with a catastrophe, with disintegration. Graduated from the Faculty of Media Art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, currently studies at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava. An artist who is affiliated with and represented by the Propaganda Gallery in Warsaw. Her works were shown at exhibitions in Poland and abroad.
