The (Over)bending cycle is composed of three works: Gravity, Corset and Frock Coat.
Planes of shining plastic were heated and subsequently formed manually to create a unique bending. The glossy and hard structure of the plastic after the thermoforming process achieves an organic dimension, both in its shape and in its structure. I border on kitsch consciously when I use such a currently widespread material as plastic. The impact of my objects is related to the surroundings, the space in which they are to make their appearance. As part of the SOON_44 project, I presented the forms in separated spaces created specifically for them, which focus attention and create an intimate ambiance for reception of each item. The background is in a dialogue with the forms, acting as a lens – reflecting and focusing the incoming light. The objects derive from the accomplishments of the contemporary design, with their form balancing on the border of art and utility forms. As regards the content, I leave a broad room for interpretation to the viewer. Plastic allows me to render my inclination to the illusive nature of art.
