5th Edition of the Competition
The fifth edition of the Starak Family Foundation’s “Wena” Grant Programme Competition in the 2023/2024 school year – a competition for an educational and artistic project entitled “What’s new in art?”. The implementation of the awarded projects has begun. The competition task for this year’s edition was to prepare an original, educational, and artistic project reflecting the theme of the Competition.
Inspiration
The fifth anniversary edition of the Competition refers to the famous exhibition “What’s new”, which was presented in 1987 at the former Norblin Factory in Warsaw. The exhibition attempted to reflect the spirit of the art of the time: young and ravenous, as if anticipating the arrival of a new chapter in Polish history. At the time, “new expression” prevailed – painting at its most energetic.
The jury selected for implementation and awarded ten educational and artistic projects, which attempt to answer the question posed by the competition in the context of a constantly changing art.
In the Foundation’s activities, through organised competitions, we develop the artistic education of young people, shaping their creative and social attitudes. We promote phenomena in art, based on values, on the confrontation of good with evil. In this way, we try to repair the world, and young people in high schools of fine arts gain the tools to express themselves through art, to be free in their creativity, and to approve or oppose it.
