High school recording studio – out of a passion for sound
Within the frame of the Wena Grant Programme held by the Starak Family Foundation, the Katarzyna Kobro Fine Art High School in Zdunska Wola created a recording studio at the school. When realising the project, the students experienced the importance of the role of sound in any other art form. After acquiring the necessary equipment, a professional recording studio was launched. The first pieces to be recorded were soundtracks for two graduation projects. On a later stage, the students recorded songs which were played on the local internet radio and published on the local Sports and Culture Center in Zdunska Wola.
During the time when the school functioned offline, the recording studio was also used during courses on the basics of photography and film, as well as multimedia and graphic design classes. The students developed podcasts, held rehearsals, and used the studio to best suit their artistic means of expression. All the projects developed within the Wena Grant Programme will be presented in a dedicated online music channel, created specifically for that purpose.
The realisation of the project was complemented with two excursions to Warsaw, during which the students not only discovered the professional recording studios of the Warsaw Film Studios, but also visited the Frederic Chopin Museum and took part in a concert at the National Philharmonics. Despite the fact that the nature of the project was more industrial rather than social, we value its educational aspect. Thanks to a set of valuable inspirations, the students diversified their own creative work, including their own podcasts, songs, animations and films. The goal of the project was met – the students entered the realm of new media and audio-visual technologies with great success. We are sure to discover new talents among the participants. We congratulate them and wish them many more astonishing sound productions!
Lead teacher – Witold Rajczak, passionate about music, has been conducting classes about the basic knowledge of film and photography for over 23 years.
