We invited the Secondary School of Fine Arts in Piotrków Trybunalski (ZSP 6 Piotrków Trybunalski) to present in Warsaw the works created during the project titled “Our Atlas: Places and Paths on the Mental and Physical Map of Life,” which won an award in the 6th edition of the “Wena” Grant Program Competition organized by the Starak Family Foundation under the title “A Map on a Scale of One to One.”
Two approaches to the design and execution of the work were outlined:
physical/cartographic maps—as inspiration and a starting point for the design process in each of the fields involved. Maps of Piotrków or its surroundings, or possibly maps of a selected location in the world, were interpreted and transformed using simple means of artistic expression (dot, stroke, line, shape) to realize a specific artistic vision,
mental/imaginative maps – these are subjective representations of the environment, used to create interpretations of people, places, or cultures. They are influenced by our feelings and moods—all emotional states.

The point-and-line compositions, developed based on a physical map of Piotrków Trybunalski, have found new expression in other artistic fields, such as: unique (artistic) textiles, relief sculpture, clothing/spatial objects, painting and drawing, and posters.
The very wide range of artistic fields in which the works were created attests to the students’ versatile talents, interests, and imagination - says dr Janusz Kucharski, the exhibition’s curator.

The exhibition of the completed works premiered at the “ODA” Art Gallery, part of the Center for Artistic Activities in Piotrków Trybunalski, and during the summer of 2025, it made its mark on Warsaw’s artistic scene.

The exhibition was open from July 2 to September 12, 2025.
The partners of the 6th edition of the Starak Family Foundation’s “Wena” Grant Program Competition, titled “A Map on a Scale of One to One,” are: the Center for Art Education, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and the Friends of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.
