The "Wena" Gallery

An artistic story about how art is created

The experience of the role and significance of the exhibition context, as well as working with a new material—resin—are among the most important aspects of the “1:1” educational and artistic project, carried out by the Gronowo Górne High School of Fine Arts under the guidance of Monika Walas, a sculpture teacher and artist, which was awarded in the 6th edition of the “Wena” Grant Program Competition of the Starak Family Foundation, titled “A Map on a Scale of One to One.”

On October 9, 2025, the temporary exhibition “1:1” opened. Previously, the works were displayed in Elbląg: at Michał Kajka Park, near the famous Spatial Forms, and at the Galeria EL Art Center. The exhibition will run through November 30, 2025.

Works by six artists—Wiktoria Kuklińska (4th grade), Zuzanna Pacholska, Martyna Puławska, Maria Buberska, students from grade 3, and Oliwia Tessar and Katarzyna Grudzień from grade 2—when juxtaposed with the natural setting of the city park, the raw red brick of the gallery, or the white stone of a modern office building, they appear and resonate with their surroundings in a completely different way each time.

Together, we created not only a project but also a little story about how art is made - said Oliwia Tessar, one of the students participating in the project, at the opening.

The guests visited the exhibition “GRUPPA. Those Who Wanted to Know Everything Will See Nothing” from the Masters series organized by the Starak Family Foundation / Spectra Art Space, followed by a guided tour led by Romualda Radwańska, an educator in the Education Department of the National Museum in Warsaw who collaborates with our Foundation. An introduction highlighting the historical context of GRUPPA’s work was presented by the exhibition’s curator, Ania Muszyńska.

The “1:1” exhibition at the “Wena” Gallery, located at 8 Bobrowiecka Street in Warsaw, will be open until November 30, 2025. We cordially invite you to visit the exhibition.

During the final days of the exhibition at the “Wena” Gallery, Krystyna Brinkiewicz, director of LSP in Gronów Górny, shared her personal reflections on the project on her social media:

It was a wonderful time! We had the opportunity to accompany the students as they presented the results of the “1:1” educational and artistic project (...) The girls’ extraordinary project experiences took them from breathing workshops through a research trip to the Center for Polish Sculpture in Orońsko, several months of (Saturday) work with a model, new technology, and the material of resin, to the presentation of their work. The journey lasted a year. It began at the sculpture studio of the Gronowo Górne High School of Fine Arts, with stops at Kajki Park in Elbląg and the Galeria EL Art Center in Elbląg, finally arriving at the WENA Gallery at the headquarters of the Starak Family Foundation / Spectra Edu in Warsaw.

The works will be on display at the gallery for just one more week—until November 30, 2026.

Yes, it’s possible!

Education can and should be fascinating, exciting, and enriching—teaching students to think, collaborate, plan, and embrace change. It should teach them courage.

During my conversation with the project participants before our trip to Warsaw and the opening, they admitted that even in their wildest dreams they never imagined that this joint project journey would take them to so many places and that they would be able to talk about their work and present its results.

The students worked under the guidance of teachers Monika Walas and Paulina Łuczak. On that day, the entire school went to Warsaw (with the exception of the seniors, who have been working intensively on their senior projects since September). We also had the opportunity to view the GRUPPA exhibition “Those Who Wanted to Know Everything Will See Nothing,” preceded by a curatorial introduction by Ania Muszyńska.
