Anastasia Skorikova
Following the light
21st July - 15th August 2014

Every substance is interesting in its manifestations. It is its self-expression that expands, changes, transforms the meaning rather than the very fact of its existence. The artist introduces the created object in the state of activity by using the natural light. The occurring changes make the space and form one organism. The object fills in the surroundings by presenting its capabilities.

When the direction of light changes on the border of forms, half-light, shadow, flickering emerge. Certain elements filter, letting some energy in, others block the passage, thus deforming planes. An object influences the visual quality of space in a different manner every time. Thanks to the use of a simple form subjected to illumination, even discrete changes draw attention and become a clear sign of transformation. Light visualises, gives colour, shape, creates impressions, locates in space, changes the energy. The diverse points of view on one problem create the field for a broad spectrum of interpretations and many meanings.
